The Odlum Brown VanOpen is pleased to announce the four Canadian players who have been awarded wild cards for the women’s singles main draw. Ariana Arseneault, Teah Chavez, Alexandra Vagramov, and Annabelle Xu will compete in the WTA 125 tournament, returning to Hollyburn Country Club from July 25 to August 1, 2026.

This year’s wild cards feature a mix of experienced national competitors and active collegiate players transitioning to the professional circuit. By securing these main draw entries, the four players will have the opportunity to compete on home soil and test their skills against a deep field.

“We are proud to award main draw wild cards to a deserving group of Canadian women who have demonstrated their ability on the collegiate and professional stages,” said Odlum Brown VanOpen Tournament Director Rik de Voest. “Providing a platform for homegrown players like Ariana, Teah, Sasha, and Annabelle to test themselves against a world-class field is a core part of our mission, and we look forward to seeing them compete in front of our local fans.”

Twenty-four-year-old Ariana Arseneault was the highest-ranked Canadian on the Odlum Brown VanOpen women’s qualifying entry list, and now she’ll showcase her game in the main draw. The former Auburn Tigers standout displayed her talent on the international stage by representing Canada at this year’s Billie Jean King Cup. Having also competed in the main draw of the 2025 National Bank Open, Arseneault brings valuable Tour-level experience to the West Coast. The native of Richmond Hill, Ontario reached a career-high WTA ranking of World No. 111 in doubles in July 2025.

Hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan, 20-year-old Teah Chavez brings solid collegiate momentum into the Odlum Brown VanOpen women’s singles draw. Currently playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes, she was named 2026 Big Ten Player of the Year following a strong spring season. Chavez posted a 7-0 singles record in February to propel her from No. 13 to No. 2 in the NCAA national rankings. She ended the season ranked No. 5. Additionally, Chavez was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American both this year and in 2025. Her college accolades also include being named 2025 ITA Midwest Region Most Improved Player and 2025 and 2026 First Team All-Big Ten.

Alexandra (Sasha) Vagramov returns to BC to compete in front of her hometown fans this year. The 25-year-old UCLA Bruins alumna gained valuable previous experience at the Odlum Brown VanOpen by playing in the 2019 singles qualifying draw and doubles main draw. This past year has been notable for the Vancouver resident, highlighted by her selection to represent Canada against Kazakhstan at the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers. On the professional circuit this season, she reached the singles final and captured the doubles title at the ITF W15 event in Victoriaville, QC this past March.

Annabelle Xu, 22, joins the Odlum Brown VanOpen field following a solid collegiate run with the Virginia Cavaliers, highlighted by her recognition as a multi-time ITA All-American. The talented Montreal product is no stranger to elite international competition, having previously reached the singles quarterfinals at the 2022 Junior French Open. Earlier this season, Xu captured an NCAA victory over compatriot Kayla Cross. The pair clashed again in a competitive three-set battle at Les Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby earlier this month, where Xu pushed the eventual tournament champion to the limit.
