What happens if it rains at the Odlum Brown VanOpen?
Jul 25, 2026

Vancouver summers usually serve up picture-perfect conditions, but now and then, Mother Nature steps onto the court.
If rain clouds roll into Hollyburn Country Club during the Odlum Brown VanOpen, our game plan is simple — we wait, we dry, then we play!
Player safety is our absolute priority, and play must pause when courts get wet. However, every attempt will be made to complete all scheduled matches. The moment the rain stops, our dedicated grounds crew gets to work clearing standing water. As soon as conditions are safe, play will resume, and the session will continue right where it left off.
If you are planning to wait out a passing shower with us, our tented Village Lounge offers a covered space to relax, though seating and shelter are limited. Because weather in our region can shift quickly, we recommend bringing an umbrella and a rain jacket if there is a chance of wet weather in the forecast so you can stay comfortable while waiting for the action to restart.
Please note that per the policy on our website, all tickets are non-refundable in the event of rainouts or delays. We make every effort to get back on the court as soon as the weather permits, and we appreciate your patience and enthusiasm — rain or shine!
