Hailing from Markham, Ontario, 20-year-old Duncan Chan arrives at the Odlum Brown VanOpen following a standout collegiate season where he was named the 2026 Big 12 Player of the Year and earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American honours at Texas Christian University. Chan established himself as a dominant force in NCAA tennis this year, achieving the ITA No. 1 national doubles ranking in March while finishing this spring ranked No. 7 for singles play.

Continuing his transition to the professional circuit this summer, the young Canadian recently gained valuable ATP Challenger Tour experience by advancing to the round of 16 in Winnipeg as a qualifier. His selection as a main draw wild card provides an exciting opportunity for local fans to watch one of Canada’s premier collegiate talents play against an elite international field.

Regina, Saskatchewan native Keegan Rice brings an impressive pedigree to Hollyburn Country Club after a successful junior career that included appearances at the Australian Open, Roland-Garros, and Wimbledon. The 20-year-old University of Virginia standout has made waves on the professional circuit this summer, highlighted by reaching his first career ITF World Tennis Tour singles final at the M25 Laval earlier this month.

Entering that tournament unseeded, Rice stunned fellow Canadian, former World No. 113, and top seed Liam Draxl en route to the championship match. He also advanced to the doubles final, demonstrating his ability to compete with seasoned pros. Now securing a spot in the Odlum Brown VanOpen main draw, the former top 40 ITF junior looks to capitalize on his recent rise and showcase his developing game to fans in Vancouver.
